AURAK Receives Visit from Crown Prince

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) today received a visit from H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by his brother, H. H. Sheikh Khalid bin Saud Al Qasimi, vice-chairman of the Government of Ras Al Khaimah’s Investment and Development Office, who had previously .

They met with Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, president of the university, as well as the university’s senior management, taking the opportunity to learn more about the university’s future plans and current progress.

During the meeting, they were briefed on AURAK’s vision for 2020, in which the institution intends to be accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), a regional accreditation body in the United States. By that stage, all individual programs and schools will also be accredited by the relevant international bodies.

Management also presented the five-year campus development plan, which will see a number of new buildings inaugurated, including a new School of Business, student center, administration buildings, modern accommodation and a new mosque to serve the community.

The Crown Prince has visited the university a number of times in the past in the capacity of guest of honor at graduation ceremonies and the annual global day celebration.

AURAK is a government-owned institution of higher education and therefore works closely alongside its partners within the Ras Al Khaimah public sector.
