The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) commemorated the memory of fallen Emirati soldiers in lowering the flag and a moment of silence.

Martyr’s Day was established as a day for the citizens of the UAE to pay homage to the sacrifices and dedication of Emirati martyrs who sacrificed their lives in combat. AURAK lowered its main UAE flag as per tradition at 8:00 am in observance of the holiday, and it remained lowered until 11:30 am. AURAK students, faculty, and staff gathered at the campus’s main flagpole, held a minute in silence, and raised it again while playing the UAE National Anthem, all the while remembering the Emirati martyrs both in their minds and in their hearts.

AURAK President, Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, was honored in partaking in this UAE tradition, “These soldiers gave the greatest sacrifice imaginable so that our community can live on in our day-to-day lives safe and secure with our families. Safety is bought with a great price, and the least we can do is observe the memory of those who have fallen in the line of duty.”
