AURAK Signs MoU with RAK Municipality

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah’s (AURAK) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with RAK Municipality, promoting enhanced cooperation between the two government entities.

The agreement specifically targets increased collaboration in the field of engineering and training of students and technical personnel. In this regard, faculty from AURAK’s School of Engineering will also lend their expertise to support training programs and provide technical consultancy in areas such as chemical, computer, industrial and structural engineering, as well as architecture, urban planning, and sustainable energy.

RAK municipality will also have the university’s variety of laboratories at their disposal for testing, while the university will also establish the AURAK Center for Design and Engineering, which will have approval for providing professional consultancy, testing and certification in the fields of engineering design and software.

It is also envisaged that the two parties will collaborate to organize workshops and conferences, promoting the dissemination knowledge and research.

Prof. Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, AURAK president, was keen to stress the importance of such agreements.

“We strongly encourage this type of cooperation. AURAK and RAK Municipality, as government institutions, have a responsibility and an obligation to work on improving the standard of living within the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. Through combining our resources and expertise, we can provide top-quality training, benefitting all parties, from our students, faculty and staff, to the employees at RAK Municipality, and our local community as a whole.”

AURAK’s School of Engineering offers ten undergraduate programs, as well as a master’s degree in engineering project management.
