Denisa Alexe and Yasmeen Howeidy Win Video Competition

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) has today announced the winners of its inaugural video competition: mass communications students Denisa Alexe and Yasmeen Howeidy.

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) has today announced the winners of its inaugural video competition: mass communications students Denisa Alexe and Yasmeen Howeidy.

Following a submissions period which began at the end of the 2016/17 academic year, the three finalists were selected by the Department of Communications and Public Relations who established the competition. Competitors were given six weeks to shoot, edit and submit their videos. The final stage of the first AURAK video competition saw the entries competing for the most likes across selected social media platforms.

On the eagerly anticipated deadline it was announced that the winners were Denisa Alexe and Yasmeen Howeidy whose gained a total of 242 likes on YouTube and Facebook, as well as 6,000 views.

In second place were Ibrahim Elkhatib, Sharif Ibrahim and Ali Elgamal, whose video got a total of 206 likes and 3,000 views. Ranya Al Bayoumi finished in third place, with 17 likes and 1,500 views.

Dr. Rusty Waller, dean of student services and enrollment management, who handed the students a cheque of AED 10,000, added, “We’re very proud of all the entries. They have done a wonderful job and are a great credit to the university. The fact that our winners study mass communications is also a testament to that program and demonstrates the skills that they have acquired.”

The Department of Communications and Public Relations has confirmed that they intend to make this competition an annual event, in order to give students the opportunity to creatively express their experience as an AURAK student.
