The American University of Ras Al Khaimah is thrilled to announce the successful launch of our innovative Broadcast Journalism Program, "Saud bin Saqr Broadcast Journalism and TV Production Scholarship Program," a venture that marks a significant milestone in our commitment to media education excellence. Under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi and in collaboration with the RAK Government Media Office and Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research, this program is designed to mold future leaders in media and journalism.
The program is designed by Dr. Sabir Haque, Assistant Professor at AURAK. The Broadcast Journalism Program seamlessly blends his broadcast journalism, video, and studio production expertise. As a key team member, Dr. Haque is vital in enriching the curriculum with practical studio experiences and facilitating collaborative projects with prominent RAK government entities. The Center for Executive & Professional Education (CEPE) AURAK manages the program. The program thrives under the adept guidance of Mr. Muhammad Imran Butt, Manager of CEPE, with invaluable advisory contributions from Dr. Mohamed Al Zarooni and Dr. Tahseen Anwer Arshi, Associate Provost for Research and Community Service.
Over the past weeks, our campus has been buzzing with activities as we welcomed a diverse cohort of enthusiastic participants.
What’s Been Happening?
Inspirational Beginnings: Our inaugural session featured the renowned filmmaker Faisal Hashmi, offering students a deep dive into the world of content creation and short filmmaking.
Building Skills: Ms. Hanan Elsayed, an Instructor from AURAK’s Mass Communication department, led an engaging session on visual communication, laying the foundation in visual grammar and multimedia basics. Dr. Suzana Zdravkovska, Associate Professor in Mass Communication, enlightened students on journalism’s core principles, setting the stage for their upcoming projects.
Looking Forward
As we move into the practical phases of studio work and outdoor filming, our students are geared up for hands-on experience in storytelling, scriptwriting, and on-camera skills. The coming weeks are lined up with more guest speakers, practical sessions, and field projects, promising an enriching journey.
