IEEE Student Branch Established at AURAK
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) this week saw the official establishment of its Student Branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

The presentation, which took place at the university, was attended by Prof. Hassan Al Alkim, AURAK president, Prof. Mousa Mohsen, dean of the School of Engineering, Dr. Maen Takruri, the university’s IEEE Student Branch counselor and Ahmed Abou-Ebeid, the AURAK IEEE Student Branch chair.
Dr. Essa Basaeed, section chair of the IEEE UAE Section, and Dr. Mohammed Alzaabi, IEEE UAE Section secretary, presented the university with a certificate of establishment, formalizing the latest stage in the relationship between the two entities.
At the start of the year, AURAK was named as strategic partner of the IEEE UAE Section at a ceremony in Dubai, while Prof. Amjad Omar and Dr. Maen Takruri also organized the highly successful 5th International Conference on Electronic Devices, Systems and Applications (ICEDSA), which took place at the university in December 2016.
AURAK’s School of Engineering offers a total of eleven programs, including bachelor’s degrees in electronics and communications engineering, computer engineering and computer science.
AURAK also hosted this month’s IEEE – UAE Section monthly meeting.
