The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) kicked off UAE Innovation Month with the “Innovation Labs and Sustainability of Resources” workshop on Sunday, February 11, 2018.   The Director of Ras Al Khaimah for the Emirates Post Group (EPG), Sultan H. Allay, and Ms. Hunaida Abdullah, Director Corporate Gov. Sales at Emirates Post Group and member of Innovation of UAE, spoke with students about the services they provide, the importance of innovation, and the challenges that arise in the process of progress.

Students were organized into collaborative groups, assigned authentic problems the postal service is currently facing, and challenged to solve those problems.  Each group brainstormed their own solutions and proposed them to the Emirates Post Group.

Ms. Hunaida was optimistic about the success of the workshop, “Young people have bright ideas and it is important that we are getting students to think outside of the box…the ideas were genuine and can be implemented.”

There are already plans on the horizon for organizing future events with the EPG on a much larger scale, reintroducing today's issues so the students will be allowed more time to expand on their solutions, and introducing new issues as well."

Students found the workshop useful in that they learned about services they were not aware were offered by the institution. Sana Sy remarked, “I thought they were out of date until today.  I am more likely to consider using and recommending EPG.  I am also considering applying for one of the internships they offer college students.”
