International Education Week Comes to a Close

Following a flurry of activity on campus, the university’s first annual International Education Week has come to a close.

Faculty, staff and students all participated enthusiastically in the week-long initiative, organized by the Department of International Programs and Partnerships (DIPP), which aimed to celebrate the diverse multiculturalism at the university as well as highlighting to students the various study abroad options which are open to them.

Tuesday saw a spectacular classical Indian dance, performed by the Sky Indian Arts Center, with the dancers also giving attendees a brief introduction to some of the steps. On Wednesday a representative from the University of Limerick (Ireland), Ms. Jacinta Hogan, gave a talk on the programs available and why Limerick is such a popular destination for foreign students.

The week, which culminated in a movie night, was a huge success. Ms. Heather McGann, who came up with the initiative, stated, “You chose to enrich yourselves by learning new cultural perspectives and you did this simply for the love of learning. You are the kind of young adults the world needs.”

Ms. Heather also commented that she hopes the vibrancy on campus over the last week will encourage more AURAK students to consider a study abroad program at one of the university’s 20 partners, which span across Asia, Europe and North America.
