New Student Orientation 2018

A New Beginning for AURAK Students
The American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK) hosted a new student orientation to welcome new students to campus life and help familiarize them with the institution’s facilities and services.
Ms. Sana Sy opened the orientation with announcements and introduced the Dean of the Office of Student Services and Enrollment Management, Dr. Lee Edward Waller, who thanked students and parents for coming and choosing AURAK as their academic home. The Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs and Student Success, Professor Stephen Wilhite welcomed the new students and charged them with engaging with the institution’s faculty, clubs, and organizations in order to achieve a well-rounded educational experience.
The Student Government Association President, Mr. Babakura Muhammad, briefed students on the roll of the SGA and how joining can enrich their scholastic experience. Mohamad Alhaj Ali, Sana Sy, Osama Ayyub, Imran Galadanci, John Mark, and Eilaf Mubarak Albinjawi all gave testimonials as AURAK students in transitioning from high school to college life and participating in clubs, competitions, and sports.
Paul Noel, Rahul Dar, Assamahou Malika, Amrutha Sreenivas, and Aya Badr all enlightened students on the various centers and services AURAK provides such as the Saqr library, the Counseling, Testing, and Disability Services Department, and study abroad and exchange opportunities. The event concluded with advice concerning fiscal management from Dr. Lee and closing remarks by Mr. Babakura.
AURAK president, Professor Hassan Hamdan Al Alkim, is optimistic with the promise of what lies on the horizon of the new academic school year with SACSOC accreditation approval well on the way, the Solar Decathlon in Dubai, and numerous other highlights planned throughout the year, “It’s an exciting time to be a Tar. The AURAK community will be celebrating numerous milestones with record-breaking enrollment numbers, the opening of new, advanced facilities, and various other events and competitions. The campus atmosphere is simply charged with electricity.”
