Prof. Al-Nasra Colloquium on Forensic Engineering
In the first faculty colloquium of the new semester, organized by the School of Graduate Studies and Research, the American University of Ras Al Khaimah’s (AURAK) Prof. Moayyad Al-Nasra gave a talk on the “Conceptual Approach to Forensic Engineering”.
In the first faculty colloquium of the new semester, organized by the School of Graduate Studies and Research, the American University of Ras Al Khaimah’s (AURAK) Prof. Moayyad Al-Nasra gave a talk on the “Conceptual Approach to Forensic Engineering”.
The lecture dealt Prof. Al-Nasra’s research within the field of forensic engineering, which is “the art of infusing the principles of the law with the engineering practice. It provides solutions and suggestions for improvement, while also helping the justice system to decide on accidents by determining relevant facts. Additionally, forensic engineers provide valuable services to insurance companies and government agencies.”
Prof. Moayyad Al-Nasra is currently a professor in the Civil and Infrastructure Engineering Department at AURAK. He received his Ph.D. in 1992 from Old Dominion University, Virginia, U.S. He has received several awards for his teaching and research in the U.S. and also possesses over 30 years’ experience in teaching and civil engineering practice. He is a professionally-licensed engineer in the states of West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina, and established a successful civil engineering consulting firm, Nasra and Associates, Inc., which provides consulting and forensic engineering services.
Prof. Al-Nasra has authored and co-authored over 70 publications, including books, journal papers, and conference papers. His research interest includes finite element modeling, construction materials, erosion and sedimentation control, and fracture mechanics.
