American University of Ras Al Khaimah’s students participated in a Sensory Sketching Workshop organized by the Department of Architecture on Thursday, March 17th,2022.
The workshop introduced the students to blindfolded sketching activities that focused on the exploration of objects for their textural qualities, enabling them to freely explore the tactile aspects of objects that are hidden from the eye as in normal observation studies with a freedom from the constraints that visual observation imposes.
The students’ work was displayed at the end of the session. The workshop was a great chance for the students to engage in discussions and expand their understanding of the role of the senses in tactile observation and approaches to sketching.
